OUR ACTIVITIES OF FIRST TERM

We did different activities the last term, and now we are explaining them.
EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES (26th September)
We celebrated the European Day of Languages on 26th of September 2014. Around 23 languages are spoken in Europe. ENGLISH is the language most spokeng in the world.
Each student wrote in a card the same word, that seemed to interest us for some reason, in several languages. At the end of the class, we glued these card in a large cardboard, we showed it in the corridor of the school and we hung it in our classroom. We had a funny class and interesting way of learning English.
People have to encourage to learn languages, because we learnt that has a lot of benefits.
It was a wonderful day and we learnt many things.

HALLOWEEN (31th October)
Halloween is celebrated at night on 31th October.  It is a mysterious night where children wear funny or scary costumes on this special holiday.  Children knock on doors and say “Trick or treat!” and people give them sweets.
In this day we had in the computer room and there we did different activities:
-          We surfed by Internet, we searched the Halloween history and we answered some questions.
-          After that, we read a photocopy with Halloween vocabulary.
-          We completed the gaps of the song “This is Halloween” , the song of The Nightmare Before Christmas. And we had to sing this song.

THANKSGIVING DAY
It is a traditional celebration of the United States and Canada. In the USA, it is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November although originally it was done last Thursday. Whereas in Canada, it is celebrated on the second Monday of October. In this festival each family gather round the table and share the meal. Althought it was a religious celebration in origin, nowadays it is a secular holiday.
In classroom we looked things on the Internet and discovered information about this day.
We consider that this day is a good idea, and we think that in Spain we should also  celebrate a great day for spending time with our family and our friends. Why not?

BLACK FRIDAY/ CIBER MONDAY
Black Friday is the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
Many websites have created Black Friday Ads, and have sent a lot of emails. There are many Spanish shops that have celebrated Black Friday as well.
We looked information on Internet and discovered several ideas about this day.
Moreover the equivalent to Black Friday online is called “Cyber Monday” and starts the Monday after Thanksgiving. In this day, purchases by Internet are cheaper, because there are a lot of offers and sales.

ENGLISH EVERYWHERE
In Spain we have a lot of English words. We had to choose a English word that we usually use in Spanish. Each day in class a student had to explain the chosen word and talked about the meaning, translation, pronuntiation and the reason we chose it.
